A rough and rusty bodged up gate near the end of Scotland Lane, where the track runs up into Raby Castle north wood. The gate frame has been there forever but the mesh was added fairly recently when a bout of tree felling started throughout the wood. The low tree line at the top is relatively recent planting (well maybe 10 to 12 years ago), prior to that this part of the wood was very old and very tall conifers, a proper dark & spooky bit of woodland which always seemed deathly quiet. Off in the distance above the taller fence posts is the wooded Penny Hill, one of the highest points around this area and with an absolute beast of a climb up from Langleydale valley to the south. Marlin 7 now with new grips / bar ends and recently treated to a new bottom bracket in addition to the recent headset.
