Fly fishing by J R hartley
my all time favourite book is The Cruel Sea by Nicolas Monsarrat.
I used to love Biggles books, and was half tempted by recent cheap boxed sets of stories. I dare say nearly 50 years later I might be disapointed
My favourite is not a Disc World one it is Good Omens which he wrote with Neil GaimenAnything by the late great Sir Terry Pratchett...everything is is a social/political commentary when you look in to it.....
If you are disappointed, you might try Derek Robinson's books. I read Goshawk Squadron last year, it was really good. He wrote three other WW1 RFC books, four WW2 RAF books and several others.
+1 for PapillonOne flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Papillon
The Chronicles Of Thomas Covenant
Neither Here Nor There - Bill Bryson
