I thought it sounded like a good idea, I usually tuck the loose ends of laces back into the lacing, but with this method there'll be no need for that. Probably not for the DMs but cycle shoes are another thing..

Sorry to be pedantic, but nowhere on that page does he explain how to tie shoelaces but only how to lace them, I was most disappointed.

Me.
I wear MTB shoes, which have laces and a velco'd strap that goes over the top and holds the lose ends in place.
