I got two parcels in transit. Not via eBay or Vinted as below. But still: for 7 and 9 days respectively (So far 🙄) within in the U.K. Googled and found this:

Since they were bought out (?) their service, timescales, even Tracking ability on the website has become laughable. They make Evri look like true Professionals. And this seems to just be the latest of National outages for various reasons.

Worth noting perhaps with so many purchase / deliveries happening in the run-up to Christmas🤶

Same here - although some might be the seller. Looking at 7 days for some trainers for daughter's Xmas present.

Yodel must be REALLY bad then. Hard to believe that any company could be worse than Evri..
Long term, I think the cowboys will cease to exist. It might mean an end to cheap (or even free) delivery, but personally I would rather pay a reasonable charge for a service which is fit for purpose.

DPD - Destroy Parcels Daily.

There used to be a courier company called SPD - slow and probably damaged....

Back to Evri. Have used them and Hermes their previous name and can say the 'new' Evri are much, much better. Haven't lost a parcel and one they couldn't deliver has been returned to us. Previously it would have either been left out in the rain, or left in a domestic bin somewhere. So an improvement.

DPD are excellent here so the issues might be local to some.

I don't know how they get away with it.Lost or leaving stuff unattended during my delivery time 1972-1983 before i went indoors for more money, was a serious talking bollocking job.Sacked or suspended. These services answer to nobody, its a joke but people who have stuff lost or stolen dont find it funny.Royal Mail was not perfect but it was not supported at the highest level in my opinion.it should have knocked spots off all of these services, rant over.

DPD seriously damaged a £1500 bass guitar I'd ordered. The hard case tht enclosed it was mullered and looked to me like something had been driven across is. The shop sent an employee up from the sarf coast in person to deliver the replacement.

If you think that's bad, I once saw a City Link driver (now gone bust thankfully) load a brand new bike in it's box into a 7.5 tonner, by holding it horizontally above his head and launching it straight into back of the truck!

If you think that's bad.... I used to drive HGV's for a company which had a contract for moving Rolls Royce aero engines between airports and maintenance facilities. The engine is wrapped in a loose fitting cover and they then sit in a specially designed cradle, which then must be secured to the floor of the lorry using heavy duty ratchet straps, attached ONLY to specific securing points on the cradle.
It was not unknown for drivers to open their trailer curtains, fork lift driver places aero engine in trailer, then driver throws a ratchet strap straight over the engine before tightening it down..... with ratchet strap digging into all those very expensive electrical components, fuel pipes, sensors etc... Apparently the fix is an extensive (and extremely expensive!) partial strip down of the engine. And a driver looking for a new job.
I don't think Rolls Royce send their engines with Evri or Yodel...

I've had Amazon deliveries both delivered by Arrow XL. The TV was meant to be delivered on Tuesday, it is now Saturday. Amazon just says if it's not there by the 10th then I get a refund. Tracking just says it left Bedfordshire on Tuesday and that's it. No response on the "chat" either. Worrying state of affairs. And I pay for Prime too

I don’t believe that there is a good courier company in the UK. Without exception they are reliant on how good the final link in the chain is.

Round here DPD varies immensely on which driver is carrying out the final step. When we get a message saying that X is delivering between 2:06 and 3:06, for example, we know at around 2:08 we will get a ‘failed deliver’ notification. That’s exactly what has happened again today.
