Certainly no harm in trying (if it allows you to uninstall it). You could also look at a system restore to the point before the update.

its no big deal its just annoying i used like the way it started before now it takes longer ;)
 
Almost certainly an update, that's why corporates have update servers, test environments and dedicated update staff, to check nothing gets knackered by an applied update. Good luck with finding out which one ;)

I'm pretty sure the only way to enable/disable automatic logon is by editing the registry, at least it is way I've always done it in the past because I couldn't find any other options in control panel. Details at pctools.com.
