Rather worryingly I sang along to that word for word. I cannot remember what I had for lunch yesterday, but know every (limited) work in that from my youth. It will be the Spitting Image Chicken Song next.

My pick: Deanna Troi, famed counsellor to the stars, never struck me as having any real empathic skills. I’m calling BS on her at long last.

Wot ? The lovely Deana Troy - I won't have a word said against her

Ilia from the Star Trek the Motion Picture.

The problem with her is that she's a Deltan, who are a race of sexually irresistible aliens. They emit these pheromones that drive humans wild. Problem is you can't smell these pheromones over the screen, so when she says something like, "My oath of celibacy is on record, captain. May I resume my duties?" you think, 'Why's she saying this?'

It must have been tricky being on the same watch as her. None of the male crew able to leave their chairs, without holding their breath and reciting the alphabet backwards. Ilia and Uhuru trying not to notice.

Riker.

Although Deanna or if we're going for non-regular characters, Deanna's mother (who is meant to be annoying), are popular candidates along with Wes from some of the earlier parts of TNG, all star trek series improved as they went on. Wes was developed a bit more later on.

Riker has always been a hit for me

Ahh. but which Captain though?

Scott Bakula, as Jonathon Archer was impressive, as he was the first Captain to travel so far out

Patrick Stewart could (probably) make a party political broadcast wholly watchable
Picard is maybe the consummate strategist/thinker

Havng Katherine Janeway was a good move, to show that women could take control

Ben Sisko...... one kick-ass captain, & intimidates Worf .............

Scott Bakula will always be Sam Beckett in Quantum Leap

I love catching ST alumni (to be) on other shows. Here’s Frakes, in an early role as second fiddle:

Give him a hat and he could almost be Orson Welles

Spock... he was the best at everything and stood in for Jim on several occasions.
