Mrs D is control and restraint trained and was a police defensive tactics trainer in her day so Johnny Scumbag would get an unpleasant surprise.

Mums not far behind being an ex special needs teacher for EBD, which meant restraint training cause those little children can be very strong (she was hospitalised once). I’ve personally witnessed her chase off some scrotes in a pair of wellies,
Brandishing a broom stick.

Has anyone ever thought Strava was foolproof and secure in terms of activity tracking? Same with any social media platform, really, we use them at our own risk and we should weigh that and be aware of it.

Risk, of course, being calculated according to the individual. Personally, I calculate recording my activities on Strava as being low-risk despite owning expensive bikes. A hacker of Strava would need to be doing so within my specific area and even then, locate the specific profiles that might yield bikes worth stealing.

My profile is private and I have the start and end parts of my rides private but on top of that, I never start or end my ride near my own street anyway so at best a hacker would only get an approximate area.

I don't record local rides outside, 99% indoors, so I'm virtual, good luck finding me in Watopia
No idea what your setup is, but in all likelihood your bike & indoor equipment assuming you are doing it virtually will be more expensive than my bikes.

But I'm of the vein, if they really wanted the bike it would be best/easier to stop a lone rider & steal the bike, than work out where it's stored & break in to steal it.

That's the typical MO.

Being a (ret.) bike UDT trainer I'd really like someone to try it. Bikes make superb weapons if you know how.

Figured that if the guy who stopped & assaulted me last year ever tried it again he'd have a 29" wheel in the face before he got fully out of the van next time.

Just spin the front wheel and use the disc brake like a circular saw…

Me "Do you expect me to die?"
Ming "I expect you to talk..."

A university in Belgium has found that even if you use the privacy settings hackers can still discover your location:

Just happened to me, they managed to link my Strava to my Twitter account and posted my real name and had Google maps views of the house they thought was mine.

I had the radius feature set to max so they were off but still not a pleasant experience.

Access to pictures on rides as well.

I do the same, plus it's a large zone containing circa 500 houses.
Not that any of my bikes are worth nicking. My newest has had a hard 14 years, and looks it.

Mine to and if one got stolen I could get a new one! More the sentimental value!!
