World Bike Day 3 June

The UN has declared 3 June world bike day to educate the world on the health benefits of cycling and using “green” transport methods.

What is everyone doing to celebrate and are your workplaces doing anything, let me know?

I’ll be out for a lunchtime loop as I’m WFH today.

This is the first I have heard of "World Bike Day", so I guess it will just be my usual 20 mile pootle if I can fit it in. Which I was going to do in any case.
It would help if they would publicise these events before the actual day!

cycling can provide a form of transport while reducing the risk of heart disease, stroke, certain cancers, diabetes, and even death.

I have to take issue with the claim that cycling can reduce the risk of death! I always thought that was one of life's certainties .

I think the UN did publicise this for some time but the media isn't particularly interested in reporting it.

In the UK, we already have a National Bike WEEK - 10th - 16th June.
This has been held for as long as I can remember, certainly in the 1980's, when I rode the LTB a few times.

I expect I will go out for an after-work ride (as usual), as Monday is a WFH day.

Garmin Connect issues a badge for a cycling activity undertaken on World Bike Day.
So that's nice.

In the UK, we already have a National Bike WEEK - 10th - 16th June.
This has been held for as long as I can remember, certainly in the 1980's, when I rode the LTB a few times.

My local group used to organise events as part of that when it was led by the Bicycle Association, but now it's led by Cycling UK and only their member groups and affiliates can register. It was a CTC ride during bike week that got me started, really

Been trying to work out how I can play it forward. I'd have thought as a Cycling UK member, I could do some online training and then be able to get third party liability cover for a Cycling UK event. I've emailed their volunteering email address a few weeks ago, but as yet not had any response.
