Hi All

I'm looking around for a work stand, kills my back bending over tinkering and while attempting to fix my gears the other day I think I managed to morph with my bike for a short period of time.

I've had a look on the usual websites but the ones that look half decent are £70+

On eBay there are lots that are a lot cheaper - £20-30. Anyone had any experience of these cheaper choices or is it a case of saving my pennies?

Thanks

Aldi and Lidl do a workstand from time to time that are always well reviewed.

Others are slightly easier to use perhaps, and more aesthetically pleasing, but it is just a workstand at the end of the day.

There's obviously an element of getting what you pay for, but for the home DIY mechanic the cheaper ones do seem to do a good job. That said I would wait for the Aldi/Lidl ones, unless you get good recommendations for the cheapo Ebay ones as I don't know anything about those.

FWIW I've had one of THESE for a few years now, (although TBH they were sub £50 at the time). It is superbly made and I've got no doubts it will last me forever, (and I'm only 41 BTW) ;)

Yeah I have one I picked up in lidl on a whim. Think it was around 25 or 30 pounds. It works well with my lighter road bike and I built up my down hill bike on it aswell. Folds up and stores away easy (to keep the wife happy)
Can't fault it really it dose the job without braking the bank lol

Thanks for the replies everyone - I've got an Aldi near me so will keep an eye out, failing that I will plump for an ebay one.

Lidl one is fantastic. One of the best things (apart from the bikes of course).fits all our bikes. The wifes has no crossbar and my giant defy has a flat rectangular cross bar so I clamp those 2 on the seat post. No problems with stability either.
