Exactly this. Which is why I generally avoid such. I am far happier socializing when it's tea and a nice selection of cakes.

I've always maintained that if you have to socialize with more than one or two drinks (i.e. get bladdered) it says a lot about the sort of company you keep / have to keep.

I have been invited to a tea and cakes party on the afternoon of the 22nd December. ^_^

What a difference two weeks make eh.

3 meals cancelled, 1 beers cancelled - all work doo's gone. Just got a small gathering (meal) with ex-colleagues on Thursday lunch, that's it now, which I don't want to miss.

Just pulled out of a Finance meal tomorrow- numbers have gone from around 40 to less than 15, just not worth it.

I am long time retired and going nowhere at Christmas. If restrictions do not appear today I will be off to stay with my son for a few days at New Year but no big party. This is also weather dependent as no point hanging around if I cannot get out cycling.

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
SWMBO had an NHS group event on Sunday, lots of different tables of NHS frontline staff from South Yorkshire in the same venue.

Just imaging if one person was ill around them

Looking around our work, you couldnt trust many of them, managers as well, to do the right thing at work, let alone out socialising with drink down their neck, its appalling.

Not going to the main firm do but our little team meal is in a pub tonight, we've all had boosters and I'm now officially negative on a lateral flow test....:okay:. I'll just show up for the grub, beer or two and then bus it home.

Roll on Friday 5pm and that wonderful moment when you turn on your out-of-office email message.....^_^

all works xmas parties postponed, xmas quiz postponed.........some teams went for smaller gatherings during lunch, but even those since monday have now been postponed/cancelled

Meals for groups have been allowed for months now in all 4 countries of the UK.

Just because something is allowed doesn't mean we should do it. And now it's not allowed or advised or something. Who knows what the rules are at this minute.

It's the office Christmas do tonight - they've had to change the venue at the last minute due to a number of staff at the original place waiting for test results!
