I only popped in here by chance. Seems to me there have been too many of late where it's nothing other than having to make 3/4/5 guesses simply to get a final letter. Not much fun or skill in that.

I agree.
The hardness level does seem to have cranked up recently

Hard mode does inevitably make it a guessing game. I prefer to play in normal mode and use letter probabilities and elimination words.

Quite often where I see folks guessing I eliminate 3/4/5 of the options with one eliminator.
