Ever seen an over-stressed bolt go?

Had a lad working with me in the bike dept I worked in...turned out he was a gorilla with the spanner and figured overtightening was safest....

Bike on display, suddenly - BANG - the bolt from the old-style M8 seat clamp broke like a gunshot and the nut and half a sheared bolt shot across the showroom and smashed the glas display cabinet

OK, it was probably a weakeness in the bolt itself too, but it makes a point

Overtightening is not just "being extra safe" - it can be the opposite

Do you remember 'Bolt bombs' ?

Two bolts in one nut with percussion caps stuffed inside. Takes the thread off the bolts.

Swan Vester red match tips were awesome with the right size nut and Bolts.. Bloody Marverllous fun...hee hee


I've been told Crawley and Solihull are very similar. Full of middle class tearaways with enough money in their pockets to buy the parts to make dangerous things.;)
