I imagine that extending ladders can only get wobblier as bits wear or bend.

My brother-in-law fell off a wobbly ladder 3 years ago. He smashed his face, severely damaged a shoulder (requiring surgery) and snapped the end of one of his femurs. The original hip repair failed so he now has an artificial joint.

My advice is to take care on ladders, and avoid wobbly ones altogether!

Does any one know if an extending ladder looses its stability. As over the past year it seems to have got more unstable when I climb up it.

No, it's your frame of mind that has become wobbly as you age and become less inclined to take risks. It's all to do with testosterone.

IMO, testosterone and ladders are not a good mix. My b-i-l is a bit of an adrenaline junkie and was not bothered by taking the odd risk such as working from a wobbly ladder. Result - he nearly made a widow of my sister, had to endure a lot of pain and several major operations, and now has a titanium hip joint!

The guy in the video below clearly has too much testosterone to be allowed near a ladder...

I don't do ladders any more........... second floor is high enough.................... oh heck.... (don't like heights)

Hence why I don't try and look down when riding on the Manchester track too much - you are way up off the floor (like top of a house height), where you are not supposed to be....
