Have had 3 pairs of overshoes at roughly £25 a pair, but they never seem to last very long zipps burst, seams split etc. Thinking of the Northwave Fahrenheit they are pretty pricey £130 £140 any views don't want to waste my money

They won't keep your feet dry without using overshoes as well (I've had Northwave and Diadora winter boots). If you've been using Endura overshoes then try something different. I buy a new pair of overshoes each winter, usually find the ones I want heavily discounted so never pay more than about £20. Pro overshoes (now rebranded as Shimano) are very, very good IME.

I bought a pair of Northwave Fahrenheit gtx boots and they do keep your feet dry. And warm. And you don't need overshoes. I hate cold feet and would always wear 2 pairs of socks with my normal summer shoes and also overshoes when it was wet. Since I bought these boots a month ago I only need 1 pair of socks and the Goretex liner keeps your feet dry. Expensive, but a vital part of my winter cycle gear and worth every penny.

This Review on Road cc is for the spd Mountain bike boot, but apart from the chunkier sole they are exactly the same as the Fahrenheit gtx boots

Shimano MW/RW81s (MWs are SPD/other two bolt cleat fitment, RWs for road cleats). MW81s £105 at Chain Reaction right now (just done a price check). I've got the previous version, MW80s, and they've been absolutely brilliant. In combination with Sealskinz socks and waterproof trousers my feet stayed dry on the recent "Wetstable" FNRttC.

+1 for Northwave boots. I've just got a pair. Only done two rides in them so far. First one was around 2C and my feet were lovely and warm. This morning was fairly wet and feet stayed dry whilst out for 90 mins.

I also really like the sole - good solid connection to the pedals.

I have the northwave boots, I brought them in the summer from CRC for about £80.

I wire them on the wiggle rut. It started of about 2° and rose up to about 7°, but there was a fair breeze and the chill factor would be below those temps. I also wore wooly bully socks. My feet were a bit chilly, but never cold.

I dont usually do long rides in the wet, but so far when I have been caught out they have kept my feet dry. I thing that if you are wearing long tights then they will get wet and then let the moisture work its way down into your boots if they arte tucked inside.

Mate of mine rates them very highly, although yesterday at 7am his feet were cold and mine weren't in spesh road shoes and Pro shoe covers.

I've got a pair of Sidi Hydro boots. Best thing I ever bought.

Just been out for 30 wet miles through large areas of standing water. Feet dry and warm despite only wearing thin socks. Only trick I've found is that your tights must be on the outside of the boot, otherwise the rain runs down your leg and wets the top of your socks; still warm but not 100% waterproof.

Dry warm feet are worth a fortune.

Took me ages to work out the tights on the outside trick. Needed with shoe covers too.

Trick #2. Make sure the tops of your socks are lower than the tops of your shoes.

I made that mistake the first time I wore my Northwave boots. My feet got damp. Never happened since.
