Just back from Whitefield Aldi; plenty stacked up there. I tried on a few things, here's what I found:
Winter jersey - very tight in the body and sleeves but FAR too long and the neck band is floppy and too wide. It's also a rather dull colour that looks like sun-faded red.
Winter jacket - also FAR too long, the pockets actually hang below your arse. Nice wide neck band that stands up well but again, FAR too wide.
Luggage rack - weighs about a stone, must be made from recycled steel building rods.
Mini pump - heavy, awful handle and no frame mounting bracket. Incorporates a useless pressure gauge. Claims to do all three valve types but I can't see how.
Merino jersey - only actually 30% wool, the white band is grey, very thin, very long in the body and looks like the kind of designer knitwear Mrs GTi wears, in fact it would make a nice wool mini dress for a woman sized about 8.
Shoes - SPD only with hard plastic MTB type lugs, look cheap and very bulky indeed when worn.
Winter trousers - look like something a Russian athlete would wear while awaiting the competition, a mass of bulky folds of a fleecy material around a loose elastic waistband, which is too low.
Winter gloves - just about OK for £4.99 so I bought a pair in black/red to match my bike, despite the naff "Biking" logo, which somebody else mentions above. I might try to scratch that off.
The stock was being pored over by several cyclists who I could see were all going through the same mental process as me: "Blimey that's cheap! Looks okay, let's try it on....... hmmm, not so good after all.... shame!"
I'll stick with dhb stuff from Wiggle I think.
