You could try wearing the peak that came with your helmet, though that will make you look like a mountain biker.

I don't know how much difference it makes, but I left my peak on. 

PS Get some sleep! It's one thing getting up in the middle of the night when it's sunny, but doing it when it is cold and dark - no thanks!

Bolle safety glasses

I use a pair of Bolle safety glasses, they have clear lenses. I don't have anything that will necessarily keep the rain out however....
