well i'm a novice (only been commuting 5miles for 6 months!) so mine is a bit patchwork!

berghus tech t-shirt (a walking/hiking t-shirt but not getting used!)
lidl long sleeve cycling jacket (not waterproof)
gelert rollup waterproof jacket (for walking/hiking again but cheap from work! though only good when rainging as i sweat inside it!)
lidl gloves, finger & fingerless
primark cheapo £3 tracksuit bottoms
lidl waterproof cycling trousers
my work socks!
karimor walking/hiking trainers (already had but sole doesnt flex so seems good for cycling to me)

over the last few weeks it has been getting colder but i've not felt i've needed anything else to wear. however should it start snowing.....

For me ..

Aldi compression long sleeve base layer
Aldi short sleeve shirt
Cycling shorts
Ron hill bikesters
woolly socks
Lidl MTB shoes
Neoprene overshoes
Altura neoprene gloves
Free buff from C+
Free windproof from C+ subscription.

I find thats enough even with the coldest days for my 10 mile each way commute, if its really cold i can add arm+ leg warmers and a vest, or even do the bit of newspaper on the chest trick.

Last Sunday (around 6°)

Head:
Buff (under helmet) - ebay

Top :
Long sleeve compression shirt - Aldi
Long sleeve soft shell - Aldi

Bottom:
Winter Longs - Aldi

Feet:
2 pairs socks
SPD shoes - Lidl

Hands:
Dunlop full finger gloves : Sports Direct

My feet were cold though, so I need to experiment... not sure if to try overshoes, or get some winter SPD boots. I've been reading reviews for a waterproof/breathable top... I do have a waterproof one from Lidl, but its the usual boil-in-the-bag...

Thanks for all the replies guys, got plenty to be getting on with and now have no excuse for not getting out!

Popular seems to be Lidl and Aldi but they seem to run out of the products so quickly!

For my commute I use:

Crane Thermal T shirt and long johns (£9.99 from Aldi)

Some fell walking trousers, really need to buy some proper cycling ones.

Berghaus Tech T long sleeved base layer, Or a Rab long sleeved hiking one.

Endura Gridlock waterproof jacket.

Endura Gridlock waterproof over-trousers if it rains.

DHB baraclava

BBB Heavy Duty neoprene overshoes that I got off Ebay that seem to be pretty good so far. My feet used to be like blocks of ice before I got them.

Some Hiking waterproof gloves, and silk liner gloves if required.

When it drops below zero it's much tougher to call what to wear. If I do a route involving a long fast descent then it may only be five minutes (of cold bombardment) but could take an age to warm back up again. To try and combat this I don't undo the zips/helmet-strap (on the climb up) but gives you an idea how to get around the tough days. Roll on spring...
