Thanks. I didn't know somebody else had already asked the same question.

At least it wasn't a fault with the frame. Switching to a completely new groupset would probably cure all these issues (but at a cost obviously) I have notice that the chain on my 540 occasionally 'jams up' when switching up or down from the small chainring but those occurrences are few and far between.

Since my wheels are 11 speed compatible, I might see if i can find a good deal on a 105 setup.

I would have gotten my LBS to document & write a report on the defect & sent a copy of it to decathlon to see if they'd be willing to send you a new groupset for you to upgrade to free of charge or at a significantly reduced price rather then have the bike returned, You did like the bike after all.

I did indeed do exactly that - and they offered to fund the change. However, having had a problem with this bike and also a niggling feeling that something was never quite right with my earlier Triban 3 I decided that it was prudent to go for a cleaner break than modifying their product - with possibly unforseen results. I am not a bike designer and neither is my LBS chap and ownership of future problems would transfer to us. Despite that, I really liked both Decathlon bikes and got lots of PB's on both.
