I wouldn't want inserts because of the weight and the condensation and because they look really naff.

I got these from my optician; they weren't cheap but they are photochromic and varifocal and the vision is superb. They get around the problem of glazing curved sports frames by cleverly having the lenses in flatter sub-frames, which can be popped out and replaced with a plain shield if you wish.

They look identical to my pair bought from spex4less. They are based in the Wirral and I wonder if there's a connection to where you bought yours from.

I don't wear them anymore as I've switched back to contact lens wearing, but they are well made and the lens curvature (even for my -6.5 correction) isn't too convex.

Definitely go for reactolite; my son and I use ours for night riding, at which time they're completely clear and the vision is excellent. In bright sun you don't notice the darkening at all although to an observer they look very dark.

Completely agree.

I've never wanted those inserts as pictured by beeblemaster as I've always thought they marked you out as an "old chap"

How dare you! I'm not even 40!

Went to another optician today, he seemed to have more experience than where I have been before.
He has ordered some of these for me to try

Not sure on the price but I will allso get the transition lenses.

Please let us know how you get on, I'm certainly keen to know. On the spex4less site they have them there coming up at £90 for the frames plus £50 for the transition lenses.

Ordered today after phone call to confirm the direct glazing.
I have had cat 1-3 transitions and the grey frames which are slightly more.
The total cost just under 195 pound with shipping.
Fingers crossed now.

Today they arrived

Took them for a quick spin and they are brilliant, no fog, it's very windy today and 100% protection. The reaction time for the lens is pretty quick, went through a long underpass and they lightened enough for perfect vision. I have all most hit a fisherman in there once with my old glasses on . Totally chuffed with them, I have more confidence now I can see the trail properly as well, next to my bikes it's the best cycling investment I have made and they will be used in the summer for running as well.
