+1 for the Montane Featherlite (I have the smock rather than the jacket). It really does work. Thing is, something that is properly windproof isn't ever going to be all that breathable, so I only tend to use it when it's properly cold out.

Also +1 for the gilet suggestion. I have a Castelli Leggero gilet which I love. Really well made, very comfortable. The windproof front section isn't breathable but it has a mesh back. Perfect to keep the wind chill off on milder days. And extraordinarily light. Not cheap though.

Ground effect clothing, excellent kit. I have got the baked alaska and I would say it is the best item of clothing clothing I have purchased to date. Dont be put off by them being in New Zealand, the delivery time is excellent.

This thread proved to be a little reminder for me, I totally forgot that I have a Gore Windstopper Jacket. Dug it out this morning, just the job. I must sort through my gear and see just exactly what I have!

Spring in proper rain I guess. In winter I'll wear the same jacket but with more layers underneath.

Are you after a wind and rain proof spring jacket?

I'd stick to windproof mate-just buy a cheapo raincoat/gilet for the rain that you can stuff in a back pocket.

I have 4 tops for what I call spring wear (probably to wear between 5 and 15 degree with one layer). One is an Altura Reflex long sleeve jersey. Was about £25 at half price. It's discontinued but there must be an updated one similar. Then I have 2 of the Aldi jerseys (about £9 each-I actually paid £4 for one when they were selling off surplus stuff). To be brutally honest there is little to choose between the Aldi and the Altura, other than the Altura has a full length zip.

I also have an Aldi softshell waterproof jacket (not the full on winter one). It's warm as the jerseys above but I find it's a bit boil in the bag.

My core getting cold has never been an issue, even on rides when my drink has frozen. Bit my Aldi waterproof condom is terrible. I only put it own of I really have to, it's that bad.

I think I'll buy a jacket if I see a real bargain, otherwise I'll just put up with getting soaked.
