Good old Microshaft to put this feature in as default so I have to spend half the night looking for the fix...

On this computer I just unticked something in Ease of Use Centre.(I think)

On the other computer ease of use is missing so it's a registry hack to prevent a folder on the desktop from opening full screen when I move it.

It's a really irritating feature which was not the norm in other windows versions.

Any other irritations you know about? (and fixes) :hello:

^This may be useful for me again as I seem to forget how to do stuff quite easily.

Just about the only thing I find annoys regularly in 7 is that I tend to push my mouse down and to the right when I don't want it on screen - something I've been doing for years. All of a sudden that action makes everything disappear!

(Yes, I know Vista did this too, but I didn't really use it.)

Yes it's very flash but shocking and unnecessary. Also I didn't try Vista for long so I forgot it did this.

There must be a fix for it?

The old windows shortcuts seem to be absent, particularly, when shutting down XP, I would hit the windows key then 'u' to display the shutdown options, and then another key to either shut down, hibernate or restart for example, that is missing on windows 7..

I played about with the security settings on the drive t'other day and when I booted it today I couldn't get into the drive.

In the end I had to boot mini xp on my hiren boot usb flash to over-ride the settings.

so microsoft make it have similar useful / not useful gimmicks to apple, except make it standard so you have to figure out how to turn it off?

I hated vista when I used it, hated 7 when i used it

hate windows mobile.

think i've finished leaving microsoft now, the process is complete!

College is part XP and part Win7.

It took many of us ages to work out how to shut down Win7. So annoying to have to log off first, then Ctrl, Alt, Del, then OK the log on screen, then find the shut down button, click it and then select shut down.

We have to finish classes earlier to make sure everyone is properly shut down before leaving.

What's wrong with using XP? I don't recall having a single crash or *!$$$!!* MS! incident in daily use for a decade.

I have a very old version of Nero version 5580 and I had to burn a file to disk for a firmware update.
When I tried to do this I got a Nero Burn rights thingy which I couldn't fix so I couldn't burn the file.
I found something on the internet to fix this...only problem is it didn't.Bit of a pain really.

How the hell do these typo's creep in?

Did the firmware update on a dvd/hd recorder and it went tits up.Think it's killed the machine.
About half way through it rejected the disk with the firmware update on and thats killed it.
All it says on the display is power on and thats it.Amazing how a firmware update can kill a
machine like that.

Oh well.I have a spare machine and it solves a few problems.Plus I will get the 500GB hard
drive out.

I'd try a different disk. Unless the firmware update overwrites itself while it is loading, you should be okay.

If I was programming the update routine I would protect that part of the firmware so you couldn't kill the machine by uploading crap. Maybe the only thing that would work afterwards would be the update feature, but that would enable you to recover from the problem.

Cant,it's completely dead.It ejected the disk and sort of died.Still shows power on on the display but doesn't boot.
The cd player after that just stayed open and had to be pushed shut.Only thing that works is the power button tried pressing other buttons and holding them in the hope this may rescue the machine.

I think I know why it happened.I pressed the remote control while it was doing the update. What a clot.

Im on a roll I also destroyed a pc power supply (today) but when I connected it to the camera circuit (due to low volts) there was a short which shouldn't have happened as it shouldn't have been connected to the circuit to cause the short.May explain a battery drain though. An indicator light which was dim before is now bright...(which is the reason why I was connecting a stronger power supply in the first place)

I still don't know what happened there. There must have been a rogue wire.
