Will my Campag front mech work with a 28 tooth ring?

Having just looked at the mech again, and having measured it, it looks like it might be a fraction too high (literally 1.5mm!). As suggested I'll try to lower it a fraction and see what happens.

It's just annoying as it worked fine before, though Chuffy reminded me a few years ago it went through a similar phase of not changing up for ages and then when it did, the chain fell of. No amount of faffing with the H screw helped - one day it just started working and has done for 5 years up until now.

Bikes, gah!

Changing to 50 outer to permit lowering the mech is a possibility but the cassette is a 13-29 so I'm not keen to lose the 53 front.

If I had a 53 on the front I'd never use the big ring at all

I manage perfectly well with 46-36-26 and a Campag front mech. Why would I want anything larger?
