Will I lose TOTAL miles when changing battery on VELO?

When changing the battery on a VELO wireless cycle computer, does the device retain the total mileage in it’s memory if you change the battery quite quickly? (I know that when changing the battery on my Nokia phone that the clock/date etc is retained when I swap batteries over one out and one in within seconds).

I don't know about the VELO but with my old computers you did but you could re-enter it manually. Try googling instructions for the VELO.

OT, but: I found an old cateye wireless in the shed, from 2000 or so. I used to use it on a five mile commute. It worked, but the display was dim. I replaced the battery, then found the old manual that if I wanted to see total distance, I needed to do it before changing the battery  I have no idea how far I cycled on my old MTB.

On the upside, the cateye cordless 2 is doing brilliantly on the road bike, and cateye keep all the old manuals online.

Lost mine when I changed the battery but instructions tell you how to do it manually.I didn't bother though.

I have the Velo model CC-VT200W and after perusing the instructions again, there is nothing at all mentioned on how to get the original total mileage back on the display after a battery change. Maybe you can with some models but not with others.:reading:

Update:

I`ve just received a reply to my email from customer services>>

"Many thanks for your email.
Regrettably, the Velo wireless (CC-VT200W) computer doesn’t have a programmable odometer function therefore we are sorry you won’t be able to manually enter your total mileage onto this computer.

If you are specifically looking for a computer with this feature then you would need to look at buying a model such as the Micro wireless (CC-MC200W) at £44.99 SRP, or any of the higher end models in the Cateye’s range.
We hope this information helps you."
