Will a 2.00" tyre fit?

Hello! I have these 28x1.75" tyres on the wheels and they fit just fine. As they are at the moment, the tyre, when fully inflated, is 1 cm. away from the seat stay bridge. When using mudguards this is a bit tight but acceptable I think. The question is, will a 700x2.00 tyre fit or will it clash with the seat stay bridge? Width wise is completely fine, it's just the bridge that worries me. I have no idea what difference in depth/height there is between 28x1.75 and 28x2.00. The tyres in question are Schwalbe Marathon Greenguards. Any info/advice greatly appreciated! Cheers!

It is hard to be sure with no reference - I don't think the current 28x1.75 tyre is even the same model is it?

The 1.75 or 2.0 is just nominal width, is not accurate and can vary quite a lot across models and parameters. Indeed tyre diameter increases with pressure and is also dependent on rim width. But Schwalbe's tech doc is great in offering some info including some dimensions (see e.g. pg 5/6). The Marathon Greenguards 28x2 is actually 622x50, not 622x54, so diameter is likely somewhere in the region of 725mm (i.e. 103mm more than the BSD of 622mm). If you could measure the radius from centre of axle to bridge accurately (or perhaps easier axle to rim edge plus rim edge to bridge), it might give you some idea what clearance might be, but I wouldn't rely on the accuracy to be better than +/-5mm.

Hope it helps.

Thanks! I wouldn't trust myself to get the accurate measurements so I think the best bet would be to get an actual 2" tyre and see how that fits. Cheers!
