This is now being proposed provisional, starting 24th June 2021. It’ll likely be an extreme version according to Eamon. Likely three bag drop locations. No more planning detail for now, how can he?

The dates for next years WAWA have been posted up on the Facebook group, 3rd of July to the 13th of July 2024. I'm really hoping to be able to ride this but I had a heart attack on a trike 15 mile TT last week and still need Angioplasty to sort out other issues so not sure it's going to happen but here's hoping🤞

Well it's not happening  I'm now waiting to see the adult congenital heart disease team is I have an enlarged heart and a hole in the heart that may require surgery, ah well their's always London Edinburgh London next year.
Sorry you're out of the running this year. Focus on your comeback ride, after the surgery.

Sorry to hear this. It went ahead with registration on 3rd July, and ride from 4th July 8:00am and finishers party 12th July. Deadline Sat 13th 2am. Ran x rated with smaller field than 16. Some grim weather first couple of days then it gradually improved though the rain never really went away. Distance was 2,126km this edition. New route in Donegal after Creeslough using the ferry from Rathmullen to Buncrana. That worked well and far better than via Letterkenny.

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
Only 16 starters isn't many. The route looks lovely.

I've to decide whether to attempt/ride LEL or something else next year and WAWA appeals as it goes past my old house.

How many started and finished? Did anyone else stop the same place any night as you, given it was x rated?

There were 18 starters including the rider who did the route check. Thus 17 during actual event. There were 12 finishers. There were much more riders interested in the format with overnight controls, but not enough to cover the costs Eamon anticipated. It took awhile to confirm it was going ahead x-rated which I think significantly reduced numbers.

Yes we had other riders staying same place some nights. Most riders stopped within 5km of each other each night. I’d say there were 6 other riders I saw every day and 3 other riders I saw some days, including last day. The other slower riders behind, I only saw in the WhatsApp group.

The route is fantastic, a smorgasbord of ever changing scenery as you head north. The Atlantic being a constant. The weather typical west coast. I don’t think the event will run again till 2028. Originally this second edition was meant to run in 2020 but didn’t for obvious reasons.
