I noticed Sports Direct are now selling Pinnacle branded gear.

Have done for ages as does the HoF website, same stock as Evans, same rubbish delivery and returns policies

Same here when I was getting the bits together for a bike build - just created a new consecutively numbered Gmail address for each order then closed it down once the bits arrived. I think I had got to ordernumber11@gmail.com* by the time I'd got all I needed.

*not the actual address obviously!

Glad I wasn't the only one! At the time I thought I was going to eventually get banned.

I have fesshole type confession. CRC used to have a £10 off a £50 spend for new customers. I abused it over the years by opening a new account for each new order. Must have done it like around 25 times. Not bought any cycling gear for a long time but CRC was probably my favourite cycling retailer.

I'm wondering if CRC would have survived if Wiggle hadn't taken it over.

No one came close to their offers, I like you have used all of my emails and those of my family to avail of the £10 off a £50 spend - what an offer, then they'd free postage over £7. NI's largest Post Office customer I believe. I remember the lorries heading out of Doagh village each day. Then there was the 10% off £100 spend through British Cycling which always made me bump my order up. The best feature of the CRC site was the filter by discount which often had ridiculous deals on gear that i didn't need but was too good to pass up on for spares and repairs.

Just to say, the fire sale is on, if you want to risk it. I've just ordered spare cassettes and a chain ring for my bikes. £15-£17 for 8 and 10 speed cassettes.

Think it's been running for a while, with varying levels of savings. Got my eye on a few bits but as usual the decision paralysis is strong..

Seems to have 'cranked' up on chainsets and cassettes - that's all I need. Got a SRAM 1070 10 Speed MTB Cassette for £17.99 - list is about £80, and my last one I thought I got a bargain for £60. Only ordered one as I can't see the current one getting wrecked for a while. Not getting anything I don't need.

Doh! Possibly the one thing I might buy....

I asked AI to show the 'real' me.
Just ordered a couple of jerseys with a claimed 80% reduction from list. Screams overpriced in the first place.

There was an odd bug on the site where as soon as I put a couple of items into the basket a 'sold out' warning came up and the basket had a higher price that advertised. Very odd. Didn't buy them though.

Yeah, I see a few prices have dropped. Keeping my eye on a few pieces of clothing which have fallen a bit more; I guess they make more on the in-house brands so these are likely to see the biggest discounts.

On the fence with a lot of it as usual and will probably sit on my hands for too long out of fear of buying stuff I don't really need / that's sub-optimal..

Seems like worth keeping an eye out now on the two sites as must be getting close to the end and looks like some more specialist items like Vitus spares are dropping to very low prices like 99p from £29.99. So guessing the harder to shift items get dropped sooner. Probably worth looking day to day to see what is available until they disappear completely. Probably recommended to use a credit card which has good customer service. I have two one being Halifax who are not great at customer service to be honest, everything seems to involve a phone call and sometimes long queues on the phone. However my other card is Pulse and you can dispute purchases online easily and they seem very efficient and clued up in my experience. Paypal is another option that could be useful, they are rubbish for warranty claims etc but seem good for when products simply don't turn up. Bargains to be had I think and as ever you have to balance price vs depleting stock. You might hope it goes cheaper but by then it may have disappeared.

Indeed; much of the good stuff has gone but there's still a lot of stuff left - a fair bit of own-brand clothing (at reasonable but evidently "not good enough" prices) and branded gear (some still more expensive than you could source it elsewhere, despite "discounts").

I suspect margins are much greater on in-house brands than branded stuff, so this potentially has further to fall. I wonder what the end-game is; whether every product has a floor price beneath which they won't descend - instead perhaps sending what's left to auction. I wonder when the plug will be pulled on the website..?

You make an interesting point about "specialist" stuff; I did see plenty of propriatory spares for in-house brands such as Vitus and Nukeproof kicking around at enormous discounts. I saw one fairly intricate part for a Nukeproof bike reduced from £90 to £1... it did sell and I wonder whether I'd missed a trick not hoovering all this stuff up. While small there will likely be a captive market in future for such specialist bits and you could probably make (have made) a fat wedge sticking it on ebay at RRP and playing the long game.

Prices fluctuate and they're still reducing items of which there are many remaining, so definitely worth keeping an eye out for stuff you actually want (and trying to resist being suckered into buying stuff just because it's "cheap").

Credit card is definitely sensible; I got a 0% one a while ago specifically to buy my MTB from CRC incase it wents mams-up (which it didn't  ).

Current order is due for delivery in the week (and cost about 30% of what it would be on RRP, for what that's worth), while a few other items I've been watching have halved in price over the past couple of days..
