Why do most new bikes either come with really pony pedals or non at all?
Because different people have different preferences. Some use Look pedals, some SPD, some SPD/SL, some Speedplay, etc, etc. Different cleats are required for each. (- and some even prefer flat pedals, or clips and straps). I also think it would be an excellent idea if bikes above entry level came without a saddle (or with a very cheap 'get you home' one), as almost everyone ends up changing the saddle too.Why do most new bikes either come with really pony pedals or non at all?
I dunno - has to be around £1000 nowadays doesn't it?Gives you something to sell on eBay
What's the definition of entry level? My £800 (RRP) roadbike came with pedals which got changed at the shop, the £1500 one didn't (got fitted at the shop)...my £900 (RRP) hybrid also did (afaik, was second hand)
At this rate we'll be building all bikes ourselves. Probably shouldn't come with a frame either- yes handlebars and stem! So ..... IMO new bikes should come without pedals, saddle, handlebars, stem, tyres - and offer choice of wheels, and what about crank length??
edit - choice of cogs on cassette would be helpful too .........
Seem to have done this with all my bikes over the years. At this rate we'll be building all bikes ourselves. Probably shouldn't come with a frame either![]()
