My wee part of Bristol is up on high on the eastern outskirts, I can see the Cotswolds from my bathroom window:smile:. New Years Eve is good to watch the fireworks in the distance in Filton (north Bristol). Plus, I'm a few minutes away from the B2B cycle path, challenge every morning is can I freewheel all the way to it without pedaling?. ...usually defeated by cars at junctions though. Its a fairly quiet neighbourhood and I'm two minutes walk from a major bus route. In elections, my polling station is directly behind my house, I can literally put the kettle on, go and vote, return and have a hot cuppa:okay:. Plus my garden is a regular sun trap.

We live in suburban Melbourne and have access to all medical facilities, GP practice, hospitals, medical specialists although up to three months wait for some. We have paid for private medical cover all our lives and are now cashing in.
There is a bus to our local railway station on Melbourne's excellent suburban network, great for getting home from longer bike rides.
Melbourne has an excellent network of shared paths so we do not have to ride on busy roads.
This week we are experiencing beautiful Autumn days, clear skies and 18C.

Unfortunately our local pub has just closed. It's a small village and there was a small but steady clientele. The landlord and his wife tried really hard to make it work but they were leasing from Punch Taverns and had to buy all their drinks through them. Apparantly the beer cost about 50% more than they could have bought elsewhere.
They have left the pub and moved to another village which has a newly community hub with bar and restaurant in it - presumably not tied to a chain. That village's gain and our loss!
Whether anyone else will take on our pub remains to be seen.

One of my mates from college lives in Essendean, he likes it there. When we visited it was too hot to do anything out of the shade!
