Ouch! At least with a conventional bike the momentum of the rear wheel isn't driving the chain forwards.

Both times I managed to quickly stop the wheel and got off with just a squashed finger tip, still not nice but no major damage done.

DO NOT try and clean a motorbike chain with the rear wheel off the ground and the engine turning the wheel!

This one's even better, he was cleaning his GSXR chain with a towel, on a paddock stand in 1st gear...

It f*&%n hurts just oiling a push bike chain, but that's horrific. It's also one of those "I'd better watch out that I don't get my hand caught. Oh, it'll be all right" moments too. I do have a motorcycle, and have been tempted to do something not dissimiarl

I never go near a chain on a running motorcycle full stop, too much to go wrong!.

I knew a mechanic years ago when I'd just started who'd recently lost the top 3rd of his finger in the same scenario, lubing a chain with it in gear.

What is this "push bike" you refer to?
