Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder! Looks like a BSO to me.

That, sir, is a fine example of the bicycle artisan's craftsmanship! A sculpture in metal sticks!

Why does that look so nice?
"Nice" is fairly subjective. Therefore I assume that you like unobtrusive colour concepts.

The base of that bike was the wheel set which I bought years ago "second hand" from an acquaintance. Seemingly he used it to try out fixed gear on the road for few kilometres and decided to go freewheeling. Silver handlebar, stem, spacers, seatpost, saddle, brakes, brake levers and chain were in the fund as well as bar tape, inner tubes and bottom bracket. The missing parts were crank set, pedals, headset, frame and tyres.
Shiny black was the only available colour of that frame. To contrast that I chose silver parts.
The first try with black tyres didn't look right. So I opted for tyres with a sidewall similar to the visible underside of the saddle - Vittoria Rubino Pro. Surprisingly that came out fairly good, imho.

So much to like about your bike, milk bottle, bar tape, duct tape, it's admirable... but not pretty, imo.

its a bit like me in many ways, getting old but still going (just) and certainly a long way off being pretty
