Pompetamine Versa

I reckon On-One will be shifting heaps of them. Fast steel commuter, Alfine hub and discs at C2W price.

Similar price to my Pompino build too, no discs on mine - disc frame wasn't available then so it's got cantis, carbon fork and a bar end shifter for the hub. Quick and comfortable.

Looks nice. I was put off when I first saw the frame as they said it was going to be dayglow yellow/green/orange, and I didn't like the look of them.

They should bring back the Pompino in white and blue as well.

Thank gawd they've stopped using those nasty brown and green frames. The blue one looks best

Coo, form an orderly queue.

Oar shooed that bee "Four man Audley cue"? Eye think their wheel bee a lot of de-manned four this.

Eye also think the disc breaks and drop-baa leavers wheel may kit popular with commuters.

Eye like the fact that English has a lot of homophones. All most ass many ass French.

I rather like the Dark Green, as it goes.

Pompetamine is a Veeeeeery nice bikecycle though, and at £200 less than the super commuter Roadrat Cotic were offering with Alfine + Discs too.

I think that the Alfine and disc equipped Roadrat is about the same price isn't it? It's the drop bars and Alfine combination which makes this Pompetamine interesting for me - I don't know if you can get that from Cotic.

[edit]Sorry, John you're right. £849 for the Roadrat.

I think the Drop bar/Disc brake/Alfine Roadrat I'm talking about comes in at £999 - could well be differences in the componentry &c though.

Oh, and re: mudguards - the Brazeons look to be present & correct, on the Pomp, from what I can see. Roadrat definitely can take rack & guards.

I ordered one yesterday so will post report once I get it. The only gotcha is that they are using standard road rims so no chance of putting 35mm cross tyres on it. The frame has the requisite clearance though. This probably won't be a prob for most and you can get thinner cross tyres. All in I can't wait to get it, especially as it seems to rain on my ride home everyday.

I think they're using Open-Pro rims.
I've raced cyclo-x with open-pro rims before now without any trouble. I can't remember which tyres I used but it was more than likely was Mitchelin mud, which are 32mm wide.

I was playing around with someones new Pompetamine on Sunday. They'd just ordered a disc frame and then built it up themselves so it was nothing like the same as the what Planet-x are currently selling.

A very nice bike it was too though.

Yup they're open-pros. I've ordered mine with 32mm Conti Top Contacts for general commuting but had hoped to be able to get some SpeedKings on there. The Michelin Mud 2 will do nicely though.
