BTW, this thread is starting to remind me of the letters' page of NME, circa 1969.

Not a fan of his music, not really my thing, but a phenomenal talent and extraordinary work ethic. Got to love anyone whose idea of relaxing after tour shows was to play another gig that night…

As a guitarist myself I think they are both equal and each a specialist in their own field that you simply cant say either one is better. Clapton is an amazing blues/rock player. I listen to a lot of heavier bands but I always come back to the 'Cream of Clapton' Album because it is just simply beautiful.

Mark on the other hand has his own technique and picking style which is unique to him which makes him an absolute master in his own right.

For argument's sake I think David Gilmour is pretty sh!t hot too.

Eric Clapton is very good, but Peter Green is better.

Mark Knopfler is very good, but David Gilmour is better.

And yes, Jimi Hendrix is the best.
