I digress I've never been except to buy my first Specialized I met the gentleman in a car park he pulled up in a Range Rover in a check shirt tucked into his pressed denim. jeans. He seemed to know the area quite well I'm not ruled by class though I can mix with anybody. I even have a mate that works at Lidl. Man of the people me.

I have a Specialized Roubaix Pro, it's fantastic, the smoothest most comfortable bike I've ridden, and I have several.
Vickster is right, Specialized road bikes tend to be expensive for the level of components but the Frames are superb and the lifetime frame warranty second to none.

Basically its the frame your paying for. What I would do in your position is wait till September when they start discounting and get it then. Last year there was hundreds of pounds off them at cyclestore.co.uk.

In theory I agree with you. But if you want a particular bike with a particular spec and size there is the likelyhood of missing out.
I am planning/hoping/praying to do a 100 miler in July/August so I would "like" one sooner than later.

The Roubaix SL4 is a fine frame, I love mine. I recently upgraded it to full 11 speed Ultegra and it has made the bike even better. I would go for last year's model, spend the extra on Ultegra and save up for some decent wheels like Mavic Ksyriums.

The Roubaix SL4 is superbly comfortable and it has a lively "spring" in the ride that even a Tarmac SL4 doesn't have.

Specialized UK strongly control their pricing and have promotional periods which they determine. If there are discounts now they may not last into next month for example

Just to clarify.
As you know (although you have never seen it ).....my sit bones have troubled me since taking cycling up 3 years ago but finally seem to be OKish.
My shoulders & neck are on fire after 30ish miles.
I am in the fortunate position that I can afford a decent bike......hence thinking of changing to what I hope is, for me, a more comfortable ride.

If you get the bike from a Specialized store they should do a free BG fit for you and hopefully these problems should become things of the past. Sounds like you are overstretched or in a too aggressive position.

Pretty sure that's only for full S Works builds/bikes unless they have changed recently ? The bike fit although good is a bit pricey imo. £120-£200
