It depends on who he is.

If he's quite athletic and wants to get a move on then a lighter (carbon forks) hybrid will be faster.

However if he wants to bimble and isn't so fit then hill probably want to sit in the saddle more and let the forks do the work...

That's my experience of helping non cyclists cycle.

My mate Dave wants a Hybrid but I’m more into the road scene.
He likes this but I’d go with a rigid fork.

I am just about to list a Ridley Tempo which I built up from a new frame and mostly new components at the end of lockdown. It very much resembles the bike you are showing there but will be £250. It has covered (according to Strava less than 800 miles)

Aluminium with rigid carbon forks.

I have it stripped down as we speak to give it a deep clean and preparation for sale.

It should be on here by Tuesday, it's a 54 by the way.
