Hi All

Need a bit of advice I am looking at the following two bikes:
Revolution Courier Race '08 £329
or
Revolution Country Traveller '08 £449

It would be for general use - eg Sunday afternoon rides, newspaper shop and possibility commuting. Is the traveller worth the extra money? or would anybody recommend any other possibilities?
Also does anybody know if EBC are likely to have a sale soon as their prices have all gone up lately.

With thanks in advance

I can't comment of the Traveller, but I have the '07 Courier Race bought in the sale earlier this year. It seems to be slowly changing from a hybrid to a tourer as I've fitted SKS guards, my Brooks B17 and an ugly but comfortable butterfly bar. The only *necessary* upgrade for me was the bar, as I found the flat bar a little lacking in alternative hand positions. The only low-rent part of the bike were the supplied cage pedals - not a problem as I use SPDs anyway.

Only having eight gears hasn't been a problem, bottom is 37", top 108". I live in Devon, and we have some big hills down here.

It's a quick bike, and nothing's broken, gone out of true or fallen off even when subjected to my not inconsiderable weight.

The Traveller will be slower and is heavier , but has the extra gearing for touring. For me, the Courier Race fitted my needs better, even before considering it's lower price.

EBC have a sale after xmas.

Their continental race bike was £270 down from £399 a few years ago when i bought it. The bike is really nice and EBC are excellent with after sales service and i really mean EXCELLENT. I had a problem with teh race and they sent a courier to pick it up the next day and couriered it back within a few days.

I'm not sure about the bkes you ask about but i believe the country traveller is more for touring. The courier is more for day to day travelling

I just bought a Revolution Courier Classic (same as Courier Race but with 26" wheels). I have taken up cycling again after 10 or so years (last bike was Muddy Fox mountain bike back in the day). I personally think it's a great well built bike (it was delivered boxed and serviced and ready to go).

The Courier Race would probably be fine out of your 2 choices I would sayfor the type of use you want.
