Hi everyone,

Trying to get back into cycling and need to buy a new bike. Had a look around and different shops and been recommended a Carrera Crossfire 2 and a B'Twin Original 5 night and day. What would you recommend? Have £300 ish to spend and looking for road and cycle track usage.

Open to other suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

If you can try the bikes out, and see how they feel. I know in my local halfords and decathlon you can have a little ride on the bike(within a small area of the shop)

I did that. They both felt similar - the disk brakes worked better but as I don't know really know what I'm looking for wanted to ask.

Are they much of a muchness at this price point?

If the choice were mine I'd pick the Carrera because it has disc brakes, alloy frame and is better looking, more robust and lighter than the B'twin- which looks like the kind of bike my aunt would pedal around on very slowly, due to the 34 lbs it weighs. Apart from that, there's not much in it.
