Hi this is my first post so bear with me, I want to return to road biking after some 20 year now, I used to ride a bianchi in my younger days and loved it. I moved to mountain bikes when I went to college and have had a scott, trek (nicked) and a Giant. I am looking for a road bike at the £400 mark. I have narrowed it down to the Giant SCR 3.0 Road and the Ribble 7005 (Sloping Top Tube) Winter Training bike.

I intend to use the bike for doing dualthons as I also run (but my aching joints and my long suffering legs wont carry me as far as they once did!). I was just wondering which would best suit what I want to use the bike for. I will be using it all year round and hope to get up to riding 40miles at weekends.

Thanks you in advance the site is really informative. I sat up much later than I should of last night reading lots of post and it was a struggle getting 3 kids off to school this morning!;)

If your budget would stretch to nearer £500 I can recommend a Specialized Allez. They may be cheaper in the Autumn sales.

I'm sure when we went to see ribble they said you can't get that bargain winter training bike with a sloping tube, for some reason the slopey frames are more expensive...(might be worth double-checking tho, I might be wrong)
