Single speed are for people who get confused by gears. Fixed are for people who also can't understand brakes.

Actually, I used the Cannondale and it was brilliant.

I need to sort the phantom noise, and the seat has to go, but a really enjoyable ride. Encouragingly, the bits when I pushed it a bit were the most enjoyable. I got a bit of cramp above my left knee towards the end, and above my right knee shortly after (as I used my right leg more to compensate) but that was largely due to the heat and shifting around constantly in the saddle.

So I'm going to stick with it for now! It's going in to have the noise investigated, then I might invest in a proper bike fit. New seat first, though! How can a Charge Spoon be so comfy, and a Fabric Spoon be so hideous?

It's a conundrum! I have seen my dream bike discounted by 20% now it is approaching the end of year sales. I also get a further discount through work so the £2k bike is currently £1.6k and I can buy it for a shade under £1.4.
It isn't the money that is stopping me but the worry that I won't actually enjoy it any more than my current sub-£1k road bike that it would replace and may even enjoy it less (I do really enjoy the current bike :okay:).
Don't buy it, spend the same cash having a bespoke frame single speed hand built for you by the mick Lapsley workshop. It will be more special than any off the shelf ride...and more different
