One beer that I do miss is Long Life. Not quite a lager, not quite a pale ale. Brewed for the can by Ind Coope, but one of my local pubs in the 70's had it on draught. It was a refreshing pint on a hot day.

I had a friend who lived near the brewery for Ruddles County and his favourite saying (that I've not forgot)

'When the bottom falls out of your world, drink Ruddles County and the world will fall out of your bottom'

Proper Tetley’s Bitter hand pulled through a sparkler was great in the mid 90s.
I always found Boddingtons a bit farty. It had a sulphur aftertaste.

Was never really into ales or proper beer as a yoof growing up. It was always lagers.

Now when I go to the pub which is seldom, I can't seem to buy a beer under 5.5% and a lot of beers at local are ridiculously strong flavoured, very hoppy, bitter craft ales.
Since cancer I don't want high alcohol content. Just a nice weak Pale Ale or a cask bitter at around 2.4% like I ignored most of my life. Seems like I really missed out.

BTW most alcohol free beers taste of pee, too fizzy and too much sugar that spike my blood glucose.

Are you going to a proper decent traditional boozer, most of those that I know would have a few cask choices around 4%?

If you don't mind Wetherspoons they usually have a decent choice of guest ales, although you have to find one where they sell a decent amount of it otherwise it's not always in the best of condition. Unfortunately in our local one most people seem more interested in £2.50 europiss so the guest stuff isn't always on form.

On the 0%, have you tried Guinness zero, lovely stuff?

Swimbridge, and the original Bishop's Tipple.

I only had Swimbridge a couple of times, but it was almost grapey, and utterly delicious. The brewery closed.

Bishop's Tipple was just something else when it was brewed by Gibbs Mew. Had many a very drunken evening back in the 80s fuelled by that.

I'd do mind them.

I was called posh in one yesterday. 😂

Took my lad in yesterday afternoon with my brother in law, and as we walked in we passed a party of around twelve people, probably a family judging by the age ranges, all eating. I then hears, 'oh posh.'

As I had a sideways glance I could see three of the women staring at us and muttering to each other, the only reason I can think of is that I had a Barbour International wax jacket on, as did my lad.

Now I know what it feels like to be @Accy cyclist 🤣

In Warrington we used to have 2 breweries ie Greenhall Whitley and Tetley Walker.
Both were good but Greenhalls was superb.
Sadly both were taken over and ruined.

Tetley Walker was disgusting carp, the real McCoy Tetleys Bitter from Leeds was fantastic, mostly around West Yorkshire, if it wasn't Tetley's they couldn't give it away, then Carlsberg took over and wrecked one of the city's largest employers, by running it into the ground

LOL, posh, they're made by sand dancers between South Shields & Jarrow on the Bede Industrial Estate
