I have tickets for the start of the Tour in Leeds. It will be a lot easier to get in and out of Leeds on bike, and possibly make a dash up to Harrogate for the finish.

But I can't find any information on cycle parking for the day.

Can anyone shed any light/help?

Thanks. I couldn't find it.

website keeps closing on the tablet so will have a look on a laptop tomorrow . Can see its doable, albeit £12 in harrogate:wacko:

It seems to me from the various prices that are being charged for simple services the people of Yorkshire are doing their best to keep people away from the TdF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not the people of Yorkshire - the business men/opportunists of Yorkshire!! As a rule the general public are quite welcoming.

When we got the 1st 2 stages of the TdF I thought "great". Having seen all the money grabbing scams I've rapidly become disillusioned. It'd probably be cheaper to go and watch it in France and I live in Leeds!!

I couldnt agree with you more, when I look at all the schemes some of these people are coming up with to fleece people out of their cash it makes me ashamed to be a yorkshire man.

Also thinking of doing the start and finish. It should be simple enough to watch them leave through North Leeds and then cycle up to Harrogate and find somewhere in the final miles shouldn't it? Have family in Leeds so that end is easy, just hoping we'll be able to get up to Harrogate in time.

Doubt that its worth even trying to watch the race in Harrogate, as far as I can make out the arrangements the finish is not so much adjacent to the spectator hub
http://letour.yorkshire.com/spectator-hubs/harrogate-west-park as being short distance before it, so anyone in the main spectator hub will presumably watching on a large screen tv, certainly its borne out by the retention of a traffic island on West Park which indicates the race will have finished before that.

Depending on the weather, I'm planning to do that.

Rough idea is to avoid Harrogate Road wherever possible. Heading out of Leeds in the back roads between Harrogate and Wetherby Roads, briefly on the A61 (downhill and fast), then getting ROUND Harrogate on the roads just to the west. Haven't checked this with road closures though.

Hmmm - do I dislike the A61? With a deletive-expleted passion!

Somewhere near the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate or further North?

I'll be doing a triangular route, starting in Bradford, up to Harrogate then back to Bradford.

It'll be easy to get there in time. You'll have 4-5 hours to do it.

If you and I have this idea then you can bet a lot of others do to. I might skip trying to get as close to the finish line as possible and go a bit further north (see post above).
