I do the usual heavy chain at work, d-lock for going into town, cable lock when nipping down to the shops. But I've just discovered the awesomeness that is strips of double sided velcro. Get the inch across stuff and it will hold pretty much anything, much better than bungees for example to attach a cable or d-lock.

Kryptonite D lock using the bracket on the frame. Rattles, gets in the way of the bottle cage & has fallen out 4 times.

I did try it in my pannier but seemed to cause it to sag.

I rotated mine so it doesn't get in the way of the bottlecage.

In the end, I swung it outwards to clear the cage.

My pump's mounted on the seat tube but I might try it as you have yours.

It's easy to stop the rattling by sticking the right thickness rubber washers on each end of the d.

It came with rubber O rings, they don't seem to do much, or they are really good & the thing would rattle like mad without them!

I have a cable lock that I have attached to my seat post on my commuter (I have loads of seatpost showing). I'll just bung this in my carradice if I'm going on a ride on the tourer just in case I need to stop off for a call of nature, or pop into the shop. For prolonged periods away from the bike, which is not often, I have a Magnum mini D-lock with cable. Despite being "mini" it weighs a tonne and I'll bung it in the saddle bag also.

I have a rack on my do-it-all bike and use some short elastic bungees to secure it to the top of the rack.

I did keep a lock at work until some twat superglued the lock for me.

I generally carry mine in my bag, prevents anyone tampering with it but if i've got too much in my bag then i'll attach it to the frame. It really depends on your personal preference.

I used to do that until it fell off at around 35mph downhill on a bumpy, but thankfully empty road, and I had to traipse back up to fetch it. It was a bit scuffed but still in perfect working order.
