When do you throw tyres away?

Yes.

One of the 'snags' we've come across is that when we make bags with tubes it is often nice to have a few patches showing. It is rather difficult finding tubes with patches on these days!

Tyres are replaced when the casing is thin, has any significant holes or the tyre suffers too many punctures. I've just retired a pair of Michelin Krylion Carbons, and fitted a fresh pair of the same tyre, the casing was showing significant wear and tear after more than 3000km of cycling. The old tyres are still around, but I'm not sure I will find a use for them.

Mich Krylion Carbons are amazing. getting harder to find now though.Longer lasting than anything else I have tried that are light enough.

Their replacement for the Kryllion Carbon is the Pro4 Endurance. I've not killed my kryllions yet so don't know how they compare.

I keep saying I'll replace my Krylions with Pro 4 Endurance, however they (the Krylions) are still going strong after 5000miles, they still have the noddules and in that time 1 p'ture on each tyre (front & rear). I'll get another p'ture now I've said that!

Why throw them?

Arch and I will have them, if we can, just let us know. We upcycle tyres into belts and tubes into bags.

The only ones that are problematic are very knobbly MTB ones and Marathon plus.
