hi can anyone tell me the best way to get rid of the rust on the wheels of my vintage 5 speed raleigh bicycle
thanks for any advice given

I use wd40 and scrunched up tin foil. Works well if they're not too far gone.

TBH they look pretty far gone but really the metal polish and tinfoil trick is about the only thing that works, it wont get rid of that patch where the rim has been 'dinged' though and the brake pads have worn through the chrome plating.
Just out of interest which model of Raleigh is it. :becool:

Rust on chrome is terminal. The only sure way of getting rid of it is either to scrap the rim or have it re-chromed.

not sure re paint i would try and get some alloy wheels and fit them it will be worth it just for the extra stopping power , are they 27" or 700 size ??
Indeed. Never mind about the rust, get rid of the chrome wheels as they are an utter nightmare in the wet. Unless of course you enjoy plenty of close calls when unable to stop!!
