I've got Dura-Ace C-24 7850s and my very much better half has RS80s. The rims are identical. And they are today's rims - sorry, but Howard is bang on the money in saying the Open Pro is yesterday's technology. The real magic is in the rear wheel, with the asymmetric arrangement but the clever thickening gives a fantastic ride. We take our bikes off road a good deal, and there's not been a the merest smidge of deflection, despite there being only sixteen spokes on the front.

A23s, HED Ardenes (or the Ardenes +), H+Son TB14s, H+Son Archtypes

Defy is a modern frame, right? The only one I'd be concerned about would be the Ardenes + which is a fat 25mm.

Check with your wheelbuilder for advice?

I think this issue is something with that particular hub, I have had no issue, nor have I heard of any issues with other Pro-Lite wheels. But like you said, the Gavia seems to be known for it. I was warned about Pro-Lite, but choose to risk £200 on some Braccianos so far they have been great.

The Pro-lite are the ones Grimpeur was complaining about spokes breaking.

Visually TB14s are the closest to Open Pros. On a modern frame I'd go with the HEDs or Archetypes. Ask them if they can do those? Expect to pay a bit more for each rim though.

The HED are nice but rather expensive at over £100 per rim. Archetype are 25gms lighter, good looking rims and reasonably priced.
