wheel advice for a large bloke

So.... ive got £200 for a set of road wheels.

My problem is im 20st.

At the minute im stuck between fulcrum 5s and some harry rowland tiagra/open pros.

The fulcrums only have 24 spokes at the rear but have sealed bearings....

The harry rowlands have 36 spokes but are cup and cone...

Advice please or other suggestions.

Custom built 32 spoke Open Pro rims. £200 should get you at least Tiagra hubs, or maybe even 105 hubs if you shop around, sorry I can't recommend a wheel builder near you though.

Or for an off the peg bombproof wheel set I fully recommend Halo Aerorage wheels. I've been using them for years now and have never had a single issue. A pair comes in at a shade under £190

Cup and cone..... easy and cheap to maintain. I have some hubs that are 24 years old and still going.

Whilst thats very helpful..... im 6'8, at most id probably lose a stone.

I would take the Handbuilts over Fulcrums, all day long. I was close to ordering a set from Harry Rowland myself a couple of years ago but ended up teaching myself to build wheels instead. I have killed a cpl of Fulcrums in the past

I like my Halo Aerorages but I built them myself, boringly, 36-hole 3-cross.

Done. Harry rowland has offered 105 hub open pro for £250ish.

Ill see what david offers.... anyone have an idea of rough lead times?

Hi im also no racing snake 6'4" and over 18stone i got handbuilts last year 36 rear wheel and is still as true now as the day i got them, very please with them. Money well spent.

IIRC the fulcrums have a weight limit of around 16st
