I’ve never seen this before but I like muchly. It reminds me a little of the Hallgrímskirkja in Reykjavik, which looks great from a distance but a bit pebble-dashed close up.Is this a brutalist church? Our Lady Star of the Sea in Amlwch, Anglesey. Designed in 1932 by an Italian architect. Grade II* listed, but sure it divides opinion. Assume the reinforced concrete hoop roof is intended to look like a boat hull.

Isn't new brutalism inspired by the 1946 alumni hall in Chicago? This surely is new brutalism without the later name tag?

Yep - reminds me of that East Anglian school.I think that is more Modernism

Correct:I think that is more Modernism
Now i know what it reminded me of!
looks like 60a stuff to me rather than what I'd call brutalism. Span etc.Around the late 70s to early 80s, Pa Bollo was stationed at RAF West Drayton, tracking all those naughty commie bombers making cheeky incursions into U.K. airspace. Within the RAF it was widely known as Legoland, but I always remember it as feeling slightly futuristic and high tech. Some of the architecture was certainly brutalist.

not sure if it's Brutalism but I like that actually.
Definitely not Brutalist;not sure if it's Brutalism but I like that actually.
Reminds me those victorian buildings, water towers/industrial buildings and whatever that they tried to make look like castles/castles in the air. Way way better than the majority of the flats, supposedly luxury, that have been chucked up in London the last couple of decades.
I was watching them demolish it a year or so back. Not sure what is going in its place though?now what gets mr riled is everybody raves about trrellick tower, but forgets it is not the 1st one.
Balfron and carradale in Poplar were before that. OK carradale is a low level block.
