I had that very colour scheme. I think it was 1974 or 1975. My first trip to John O'Groats, sleeping in fields was on that bike!
Lucky Basket...

Funnily enough, my old one was orange when I rescued it, IIRC with white lettering though and horrible steel cotter pinned cranks. All very rusty, from its final resting place in a damp garage in Morden...the ignomony.
I had it resprayed plain blue to stop it getting nicked from South Bank Poly.

Just posted some pics of the beautiful lugwork on the lug thread...but what the hell...

Mind you, they're not cheap are they?

And a waiting list of over 5 years.

From the Vanilla site:
"As of December 1st, 2007 the wait for a custom Vanilla is over five years.
It is impossible to predict how the cost of things like steel, silver, paint, even the utilities in our shop will fluctuate in the coming months and years. For this reason the final price of our bicycles will be subject to change as the markets change."

Graham Obree's bikes were beautiful because he cobbled them together from whatever he had knocking around the shed. It's a different sort of beauty.
