Good evening all

I keep seeing high praise for Endomondo, and had a quick look @Nigelnaturist post and it looks really comprehensive. I have been using Walkmeter, but really fancied the look of Endomondo. However, I was just about to download it for the iPhone, and the ratings slate it saying that since the upgrade, it doesn't work.

Any experiences? Or shall I stick with Walkmeter?

Try Strava , both my m8s run strava on their I-phones , I just started using it on my cheap android phone after endomondo started playing up recently, works well now.

Is Strava all that though? I keep reading its inaccurate, and only any good for testing yourself over sections of your ride against others ? !!

I'd say they all lack a degree of accuracy. Endomondo tells me I've burnt 1000+ calories after a 14 mile, 1 hr ride. I'd have thought closer to half that would be more accurate.

Think I would trust Garmin over Strava.
@Hill Wimp I wouldn't trust garmins elevation correction, endomndo is free as is mapmyride and almost all other apps at the basic level, garmin is free and can be used by anyone not just those with garmin units, though what you have to do is down load a tcx or gpx file from the site you use and upload that to garmin.
@nappadang to get correct (or even remotely correct) calories burned, you need to measure your H.R. with other things taken into consideration, I don't know enough to really comment, last year using an online calorie calculator I was using up to 56cals/mile this last month using weight and h.r. data in the garmin I am using about 40 cals/mile, but then i don't really weigh myself often, so the weight equation will be wrong.
@Jaco45er Strava doesn't calculate all the elevation gained, only those climbs above a certain grade and possible for a certain distance (or so i have read), this is why compared with the elevation data from other sites or a gps unit, it is always lower, it also takes a slightly different time from those of the unit (dedicated gps units), it also appears to truncate average speeds rather than round them.

I'm quite happy with Endomondo Pro, which I first installed on an iPhone and now use on a Galaxy S3. I had a look at Strava, but the free version has fewer features than the Pro version of Endomondo, which only costs a few quid. Also, Endomondo seems to be a better app for cross training as I can easily enter multiple sports. The best thing about Strava seems to be the segments, but I can use Exportomondo and upload data onto Strava so I get the benefits of both.

It is accurate over long distances , on short segments under a mile it can be a little out , if you just want to record distance and average speed it is fine .

Could have fooled me. It's still truncates speed.
Distance 42.3 correct
Time 2:36:03 wrong 2:35:11.39
Avg sp 16.3mph wrong 16.36mph (correctly rounded 16.4mph)
Elevation gained 1976ft (without strava correction) this would most likely be in the region of 1400ft with correction, loaded it to an old profile and it is 1338 ft.

It will usually give u a distance and average slighty less than actual
