What's going on with Brooks saddle prices?

Prices seem to have leapt up everywhere. Have they suddenly become popular, has the plant burned down or is there a shortage of cows?

Don't worry about it. They're rubbish.

Brooks have realised that people aren't buying them because they're rubbish, so are going for the "well they're expensive so they must be good" line.

It';s the whole fixed/retro thing...

Also, more people are doing longer distance stuff where all-day comfort becomes paramount, a Brooks is pretty useful then. But mostly the price hike is due to trendiness.

Might have something to do with Extra UK taking over the distribution from Amba Marketing?
Extra have always been expensive, maintaining full RRP, protecting margins and so on.

I would like to try out a Brookes but they're too expensive to take a gamble on.... but I guess there's a 2nd hand market for them!

I don't buy Brooks. I am against the sale of torture equipment.

My friend Pete had one once and mid-ride, a couple of weeks later, he yanked it off the seat pin and chucked it over a hedge. Riding home 30 odd miles without a saddle was preferable, apparently...
