I disagree with this statement, a pair of Aksium race wheels will definitely give an improvement over the OE wheels on the spesh, and if you shop around will come in well under budget.

Aksiums are great value for money. They came as standard on my Cayo and I thought they were pretty good having moved on from from bog-standard heavy Bontrager's on my Trex 1000 a couple years back. I've since upgraded the Aksiums to the new fangled Dura-Ace carbon reinforced wotsits - which are absolutely brilliant by the way. I've stuck the Aksiums back on the Cayo for winter (not got round to getting the Trek back up and running for winter) and I must admit to appreciating the Aksiums even more than before. I like em!
